Summary

This error occurs when a GLS Client's Data Path is not entered as a relative path. The Data File Integrity Check (DFIC) program will fix this error when it is run with the Read Only check box cleared.

Note: Single and Multi-User systems of GLS for Version 14.3 do not report this error because the relative path requirement is for Client Server Version only.

More Information

Client Server Version 14.3 and all later versions of the software require that the GLS Data Path for all defined GLS clients be relative paths AND be located in a folder under the current working directory. This is required in order for HotBackup to back up data for all GLS clients. Previous versions of GLS did not have this requirement.

For each GLS Data Path that is not a relative path, the Data File Integrity Check compares the Current Working Directory to the GLS Data Path. If it is possible to modify the GLS Data Path to be a relative path and still match the Current Working Directory, the Data File Integrity Check will do so and report this error.

The following is an example of the DFIC error 8 that is shown on the Data File Integrity Check Error Report where the path was changed (i.e., run with the Read Only check box cleared). Note that the first line indicates which GLS Client had the non-relative path.

ErrCode:  8 - Path Is Not Relative for Client 1
Path=C:\Tabs3\GLS2011\
Changed To=GLS2011\

Resolution

This error is typically fixed by the Data File Integrity Check program.

Example

The following is an example of a path that would cause a GLS DFIC error 8.

Let's say the Current Working directory is set to S:\Programs\Tabs3 and the GLS Client's Data Path is set to S:\Programs\Tabs3\GLSData\GLSClient2. In this case, the S:\Programs\Tabs3 would be truncated from the GLS Data Path, and would be changed to GLSData\GLSClient2\.
