The information in this article applies to:
When installing software from an update CD that was sent out to maintenance users, or from a downloadable update from the Software Updates Web Site, the installation program detects which software programs are installed in the specified location and whether or not the programs were on maintenance when the new version was released. If one or more of the programs are not on maintenance, the update will not allow the installation to continue. This article describes the options available for resolving this situation.
When the installation detects a program that is not on maintenance, a window similar to the following will be displayed:
If you are unable to install the software because one or more of the installed Tabs3 and PracticeMaster programs are not on maintenance, you have several options for resolving the situation.
Note: If you believe the installation program is incorrect and the indicated program(s) actually are on maintenance, contact our Sales Department at (402) 419-2200 for assistance.
If you use all of the Tabs3 and PracticeMaster programs that are in the program folder, and one or more of the non-maintenance programs are configured to integrate with those that are on maintenance, you can purchase software license updates for the programs that are not on maintenance. If you purchase software license updates for the non-maintenance programs, you will receive a new installation CD containing the latest releases for all of your programs--including the newly-updated programs. You will also receive four months of maintenance for each product that you update. Contact your Tabs3 reseller or our Sales Department at (402) 419-2200 if you would like to purchase software license updates for the products that are not on maintenance.
WARNING: Do NOT uninstall the software if your firm uses it. If your firm uses the software that is not on maintenance, you must purchase software license updates, separate it from the software programs that are on maintenance, or continue to use your current version of the software and not install the newer version.
If you do not use the programs that are not on maintenance, and you do not plan to use them in the future, you can uninstall them and then run the update installation again. Once the program files and data files have been removed and only programs that are on maintenance remain in the program folder, the update will allow you to install as normal.
WARNING: If one or more of the non-maintenance programs are configured to integrate with those that are on maintenance or vice versa, all program files MUST remain in the same folder. Do NOT remove any programs from the program folder if they are configured to integrate with programs that will remain in the folder. For example, if you are using APS integration with GLS, APS must NOT be removed from the GLS program folder.
If you use the programs that are not on maintenance, but they are not integrated with the programs that are on maintenance, you can remove the program and data files for one or the other and place them in a different folder. Once the non-maintenance programs have been separated from those on maintenance and only programs that are on maintenance remain in the program folder, the update will allow you to proceed as normal.
If you need assistance in separating the non-maintenance programs from those that are on maintenance, please contact our Technical Support Department at (402) 419-2210. This call will be billable at the standard billable rate for support calls.
