Summary

This article provides step-by-step procedures for getting started printing statements using page layouts created with the Tabs3 Statement Designer.

More Information

Once you have created or customized a page layout using the Statement Designer, there are a few simple configuration steps that need to be done before you can use it to print statements.

Assigning a Page Layout to a Statement Template

A page layout can be used more than once on a statement template, and on more than one statement template. Use the following procedure to assign one or more page layouts to a statement template. Keep in mind that all clients that use the statement template will be affected by your changes. You can determine which statement templates are assigned to which clients by printing a Statement Template List (Reports | Miscellaneous | Statement Template List). In the Statement Template List dialog, select the Include Clients Assigned to Each Template check box. If you need to change the Statement Template assigned to a client, refer to the Assign the Statement Template to a Client section of this article.

To assign a page layout to a statement template

  1. From the Tabs3 menu, select Statements | Statement Setup | Statement Templates.
  2. Click the drop-down button next to Template ID and select the statement template to which you want to assign a page layout.
  3. On the Layouts tab, click the drop-down button and select the desired page layout in one of the four fields:
  4. Press Ctrl+S to save your changes to the statement template.
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 for all statement templates to which you want to assign page layouts.
  6. Close the Statement Templates window.

Note:  As an alternative to assigning page layouts to statement templates, you can use the Template Options button on the Options tab of the Generate Statements program (the Print Statements program in Version 11) to temporarily assign one or more page layouts to the current statement run only.

Enabling Statement Designer Layouts

Before you can print statements using Statement Designer page layouts, you must enable Statement Designer layouts for the designated statement printer.

To enable Statement Designer Layouts

  1. From the Tabs3 menu, select File | Print Setup.
  2. Select the printer you use to print statements.
  3. Click Statement Setup.
  4. Select the Enable Statement Designer Layouts check box.
  5. Click OK, and click OK again to save your changes.

When you print statements for clients that use statement templates with page layouts assigned to them, the page layouts will now be used. The information from Statement Customization and/or any bitmap specified in Statement Setup will be ignored for clients that are assigned these templates. Clients that use statement templates with no page layouts assigned will print without page layouts.

Assign the Statement Template to a Client

After you have assigned one or more page layouts to a statement template, you can assign the statement template to any client. Use one of the following procedures to do this.

To Change the Statement Template(s) Assigned to Individual Clients

  1. From the Tabs3 menu, select File | Open | Client.
  2. On the Statement Options tab, click the drop-down button next to the statement template field in which you want to assign the modified statement template. For example, if you want draft statements to print using the modified statement template, click the drop-down button next to the Draft Template field.
  3. Select the desired template from the Statement Template Lookup window, and click OK.
  4. Press Ctrl+S to save your changes to the client.
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for the other statement template field if you want both draft and final statements for the client to use the modified template.
  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for each client that you want to use the modified statement template.

To Change the Statement Template(s) Assigned to Many or All Clients

  1. From the Tabs3 menu, select Maintenance | Client Related | Change Client Options.
  2. Make a backup of your data when prompted to do so.
  3. On the Client tab, specify the range of clients that you want to use the modified statement template. If you want to assign the template to all clients, delete the 0.00 in the first Thru field, and leave all fields blank.
  4. Click the Select button at the bottom right corner of the Statements tab.
  5. Select either Draft Template or Final Template, depending on which template you want to change for the selected clients. If you want to change both templates for the selected clients, select both.
  6. Click OK to close the Select Options to Change window.
  7. Click the drop-down button next to Draft Template or Final Template to open the Statement Template Lookup window.
  8. Select the modified statement template, and click OK.
  9. If you selected both fields in step 5, repeat steps 7 and 8 for the other template field.
  10. Click OK to change the assigned statement templates for the selected clients.
