DOWNLOADING THE AREA OF PRACTICE TEMPLATES

The accounting Area of Practice Templates are stored in a file named AOPS.EXE. The AOPS.EXE file can be downloaded from our Web site on the Internet. This file is a self-extracting EXE file.

To download the AOPS.EXE file:

  1. Open your Internet browser window and go to:  www.Tabs3.com
  2. Point to Support and select Utilities
  3. Click on PracticeMaster Reports and Templates.
  4. Click the AOPS.EXE file and save it to an empty temporary directory (e.g., c:\AOPs).

EXTRACTING THE AOPS.EXE FILE

Once the AOPS.EXE file has been saved to your hard drive, the file must be executed using the following steps to extract the contents.

To extract the contents of the AOPS.EXE file:

  1. From the Start button, select Run.
  2. Click the Browse button and navigate to the temporary directory where you saved the AOPS.EXE file.
  3. Double-click the AOPS.EXE file.
  4. Click OK to begin the extraction process.
  5. In the TurboSFX-Request dialog box, specify the path where you want the Area of Practice Template files extracted (e.g., c:\AOPs).
  6. Click OK.
  7. When the extraction process has completed, open Windows Explorer.
  8. Navigate to the temporary directory and view the contents. You should see the following folders in the temporary directory: AUDIT, BTAX, COMPILE, CONSULT, CONT_ED, ICONSULT, and TAX. 

IMPORTING THE AREA OF PRACTICE TEMPLATES

Now that the file is extracted, the desired Area of Practice templates must be imported into PracticeMaster.

To import an Area of Practice template into PracticeMaster:

  1. Start PracticeMaster.
  2. From the Maintenance menu, select File Maintenance.
  3. Click Yes when asked to make a backup.
  4. From the File Maintenance window, right-click Areas of Practice and select Import AOP Template.
  5. In the Import Path box, click the browse button button and navigate to the folder where the desired Area of Practice template is stored. Open the folder and double-click the *.AOP file in the folder. For example, if you are installing the Business Tax Area of Practice, you would double-click the BTAX.AOP file.
  6. Click OK to begin the import process. Upon completion, the message "Import Successful" will be displayed. Click OK to clear the message.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each Area of Practice you want to install.
  8. Click Close to close File Maintenance.
