How to Access Palm Handheld System Information

The information in this article applies to:

SUMMARY

This article provides instructions to access system and version information for Palm OS handheld devices, the Palm Desktop software and the Palm Applications.

ACCESSING PALM OS INFORMATION

Use the following steps to access information about handheld devices that use Palm Operating System.

  1. On the handheld device, tap Applications. (Note:  Some handhelds have a Home key rather than Applications, but the function of the key is the same.)
  2. Tap the Menu key on the handheld device.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Info.
  4. In the lower right corner of the display, select one of the following options:
    1. Version:  Selecting this option displays the version of each application installed on the handheld device.
    2. Records:  Selecting this option indicates how many records are currently stored on the handheld device for each application.
    3. Size:  Selecting this option shows the amount of memory available compared to the total amount on the handheld device, as well as the size of each installed application in kilobytes (K).

ACCESSING PALM DESKTOP VERSION INFORMATION

The following steps can be used to find out the version of the Palm Desktop software installed on your computer.

  1. From the Palm Desktop menu, select Help | About Palm Desktop.
  2. In the lower left corner of the About Palm Desktop window, the version information is displayed.
  3. In the lower right corner of the same window, you can optionally click the More Info or Version button to see version information for each individual file used by the Palm Desktop application.

ACCESSING PALM APPLICATION VERSION INFORMATION

To access basic information about either the PracticeMaster Palm Application or the Tabs3 Palm Application, right-click the corresponding Palm Sync icon (i.e., PM Palm Icon or T3 Palm Icon) in the Windows system tray, and select About. A window containing the following information will open:

Determining the User Name on the Handheld

You can check the user on the handheld using the following procedure:

  1. On the handheld, tap HotSync.
  2. The user name will be displayed at the top of the screen.

Note:  The user name is displayed after the first HotSync has been performed.
