DFIC Error 72 - File Structure is Corrupt (Bad DODA)

The information in this article applies to:

• Tabs3 Version 10 & 11
• Tabs3 Remote Version 10 & 11
• TAS Version 10 & 11
• GLS Version 11

SUMMARY

This error indicates that the structure of the data file shown on the Error Report does not match the structure required by the software.

This error can occur for one of two reasons:

• A new version of the software was installed but the data files were not converted.
• Data corruption.

Note:  There is also a possibility that this error may occur in certain files immediately after updating Tabs3 from version 10.5 or earlier to Version 10.6 or later. Please see the Special Resolution section below for more information.

RESOLUTION

To correct this error:

• Determine the cause of the error and either restore the data files from a backup or install the correct version of the software that matches the data files. The Description shown on the Error Report will include the label "Bad DODA" which is for Technical Support purposes only.
• Special Resolution:  Follow the procedures below if, after updating from Tabs3 Version 10.5 or earlier to Version 10.6 or later, you encounter error 72s in one of the following files:
  • Write Off Verification File (t3overif.dat & t3overif.idx)
  • Reverse Write Off Verification File (t3rverif.dat & t3rverif.idx)
  • Update Statements Verification File (t3uverif.dat & t3uverif.idx)
  • Undo Updated Statements Verification File (t3vverif.dat & t3vverif.idx)

  Log into Tabs3 with each User ID and print the verification list(s) that contain the error 72(s). Then, use Windows Explorer to delete the affected file(s) as indicated above from the Tabs3 program directory.

  For example, if the above circumstances apply and the Tabs3 Data File Integrity Check indicates an error 72 in the Write Off Verification File, log into Tabs3 using each User ID and print the Write Off Verification List (if any). Then, select Help | About Tabs3 and note the Program Directory indicated in the middle section of the window. Finally, use Windows Explorer to browse to the program directory (e.g., S:\STI) and delete t3overif.dat and t3overif.idx.
