SUMMARY

Trial Software is available for each product. Trial Software is interactive and is provided with sample data. It functions like full working software but with minor limitations.

Trial Software is available at no charge on CD for the following products: Tabs3, PracticeMaster, Tabs3 General Ledger Software (GLS), Tabs3 Accounts Payable Software (APS), Tabs3 Trust Accounting Software (TAS), Tabs3 Report Writer, Tabs3 Remote, Tabs3 Palm Application, PracticeMaster Briefcase, Taskbill, Tabs3 Device Interface (also known as, TBDevice), WCNVASCV, and GLS Report Writer. The CD includes manuals and tutorials in PDF format (Adobe^® Portable Document Format files). You will need to have Adobe Acrobat^® Reader Version 4 or later installed to view these files. Adobe^® Reader is free and available via Adobe's Web site (http://www.adobe.com).
Trial Software is available for Cost Recovery Interface programs for $25 plus shipping (non-refundable).
Trial Software can retain information for real clients and real fees. If you want to retain information entered into the Trial Software, refer to the Installing Full Software Over Trial Software section of this KB Article.

	Note: A Tabs3 Report Writer trial version cannot be installed without installing a Tabs3 trial version. You can install a trial version of Tabs3 and Tabs3 Report Writer in a separate location on your hard drive. Alternatively, if you want to try out the Tabs3 Report Writer trial Version with your Tabs3 data, you can use the procedures on page 9 of the installation instructions.

	2) Only one additional report can be added. This report can be both saved and deleted.
Note: The GLS Report Writer trial software will only work with a GLS trial software; it will not work with full GLS user software.

Limitations:	Serial Numbers must match. If serial numbers don't match (i.e., full Tabs3 and trial Palm Application), then you cannot sync records from the handheld to Tabs3 (although you can install the software on your handheld, sync the client information from Tabs3 to the handheld and work with the software on the handheld).

Limitations:	Limited to the first 10 records for the selected client.

Limitations:	Will only merge data from the first 10 records in the file.

Installing Full Software Over Trial Software

If you have purchased the full version of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster software, you cannot install the full working version of the software to the same location as an existing Trial Software installation. If you attempt to do so, the message "Full working versions of Tabs3/PracticeMaster Software must not be installed into a folder where trial software is installed" will be displayed.

To retain information that was entered in the Trial Software:

Run the "Back Up Data Files" program in the Trial Software.
Install the full working version of the Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Software to a separate directory.
Using Windows Explorer, transfer the BACKUP folder from the trial version eval folder (i.e., the \EVAL folder) to the current working directory of the full-user version.
Open the full working version of Tabs3 and save the Customization window when prompted.
In the full working version, use the "Restore Data Files" program in Tabs3 to restore the data to its new location.

For example, let's say the Trial software is installed in C:\Tabs3. When you run the backup in the Trial software, the Backup folder will be created as C:\Tabs3\Eval\Backup. When the full working version is installed, let's say it is installed to C:\Tabs3 as well. Copy the Backup folder from C:\Tabs3\Eval to C:\Tabs3. Then, open the full working version from C:\Tabs3 and select File | Restore Data Files to restore the backup made in the Trial software.
