SUMMARY

It is possible that a damaged file will prevent Tabs3 from displaying the main program window. Errors such as 1310-0-14-0 or 1400-0-160-0 can prevent access to Tabs3.

MORE INFORMATION

Normally, when Tabs3 encounters an error opening or using a file, the program is shut down. Tabs3 opens only a few files prior to displaying the main program window. These files are:

If an error is encountered opening the T3EMPL.DAT or T3MACRO.DAT file, an error message is displayed but the program allows the user to continue. If an error is encountered opening the T3CLIENT.DAT file, the program is shut down. Also, if opening the file is successful but there is an error reading the file, the program cannot continue to the main program window and is shut down.

RESOLUTION

One or more files are damaged. The user should restore from a good backup. As an alternative, the user may be able to resolve the problem by doing the following without having to restore from a backup:

If the error is with the client file (T3CLIENT):

  1. Make a temporary backup.
  2. Move the T3CLIENT.DAT and T3CLIENT.IDX files to a temporary directory.
  3. Start Tabs3.
  4. While Tabs3 is running, move the client files back to the data directory.
  5. Run Reindex Data Files for the client file.
  6. Run Data File Integrity Check and resolve any additional errors.

If the error is with the T3EMPL or T3MACRO file:

  1. Make a temporary backup.
  2. Move the associated .IDX file to a temporary directory.
  3. Start Tabs3.
  4. Proceed past the error message.
  5. Run Reindex Data Files for the associated file.
  6. Run Data File Integrity Check and resolve any additional errors.
